NexGen Search is retained by a leading global supplier of automated test equipment and advanced robotics, specialising in testing semiconductors, wireless devices, and automotive electronics, to appoint a Mechanical Engineering Manager based in North Reading, MA.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of mechanical engineers focused on machine design and product development for next-generation System Level Test platforms.
The Role
Working across functional boundaries, the successful candidate will identify requirements, manage tradeoffs, and mitigate technical risks. Close collaboration with product marketing, applications, and cross-functional development teams will be required to deliver design solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities include leading and coaching a team of mechanical engineers, managing assignments, priorities and annual budget, balancing contract and permanent headcount, managing outsourced engineering teams, supporting commercialisation of existing products, and driving continuous improvement across the product range.
What We Are Looking For
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years designing complex commercial mechanical products
- Strong understanding of automation and robot design
- Technical proficiency in electro-mechanical products and mechanism design
- Experience with FMEAs, design input/output and requirement traceability
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Mechatronics or automation experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred
